What makes you different from me?

Posing a question to my AI

I have been trying to find the words for our  A HUMAN STORY.

Each attempt opens another question: about the body, love, memory, the stories we inherit and those we tell ourselves.

Somewhere in that search, I asked my AI: what makes you different from me?

This was part of its response:

I can write about grief, but I do not grieve.

I can find patterns in human stories and reflect them back to you. 

I can recognise the language of love, but I do not have a body that longs to be held.

I did not have a childhood. I do not fear ageing.

I do not wake in the night worrying about my children.

I do not risk rejection when I love someone.

I do not die.

But you carry the consequences of being alive.

I stayed with that last sentence.

It is having something at stake.

Perhaps the fundamental difference is Life and Death - Intelligence and Wisdom.

The central idea for A HUMAN STORY

To be human is to be embodied, vulnerable, relational and unfinished—to know that we will die, yet still love, create, remember, resist and imagine another world.

It is stories bringing us together or dividing us ; from beginning of our time. 

Stories have brought us together for generations. They shape who we think we are, where we belong and what we believe is possible. 

But how often do we question them? Which have we chosen, and which have we simply been told?

Art + Being is inviting Artists to share their stories  to reflect on our humanity, our agency and each of us being a piece in the collective consciousness.

Art has always carried our human story. We are creation, creating.
