Ipang Cahyo

An Indonesian artist whose practice romanticizes the sensation of longing, Ipang Cahyo explores the emotional spectrum of intimacy — from playful flirtation to the depths of heartbreak. His paintings trace the fragile space between fantasy and reality, tenderness and loss, offering a poetic reflection on the ways we love, dream, and remember.

  • Ipang Cahyo (b. 2003, Indonesia) is an emerging painter whose practice orbits around the poetic tension of rindu — longing. Born into a farming family in Bantul, Yogyakarta, he translates intimate emotion into visual metaphor, tracing the emotional topography of love from the blush of infatuation to the quiet ache of heartbreak.

Through soft palettes and whimsical gestures, Ipang constructs narratives that hover between tenderness and melancholy, fantasy and vulnerability. His works act as diary fragments — mapping the tremors of affection, desire, and disillusionment. At once romantic and reflective, his canvases reveal a fascination with the impermanence of feeling and the delicate architectures of human connection.

Currently completing his studies in painting at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts, Yogyakarta (ISI), Ipang has exhibited widely in group exhibitions across Indonesia and abroad, including Art Jakarta, Museum Sonobudoyo, and Tokyo Geidai. His practice continues to evolve as a lyrical study of how love — imagined or remembered — becomes both a mirror and a myth.
